Making Chicken Wings in the Air Fryer couldn’t be easier. They only take about 20 minutes to make, come out super crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, are a much healthier alternative to fried wings, and best of all, there is minimal clean up! I am seriously hooked, and not sure that I could go back to deep frying again!
Keeping the Chicken Wings in a single layer, with a little bit of space between, allows the forced circulating hot air to get all around the wings, making them extra crispy. Before we got a new oven with a built-in air fryer, we had the Instant Pot Vortex Plus Air Fryer. I LOVED IT. I was able to cook two trays of wings at a time, giving us a little more room to space our wings. If your Air Fryer has a basket, like this one, or an Air Fryer Lid for your Instant Pot, you might need to cook the wings in batches.
We generally tend to stick to a Classic Buffalo Sauce, BBQ Buffalo Sauce, or these Korean BBQ Wings, but the options for Chicken Wing sauces are endless.
How Many Chicken Wings Should I Cook?
Chicken Wings make a great appetizer, or weeknight meal. If you are serving chicken wings as an appetizer, count on 4-5 wings per person (about ½ pound per person), and if serving as a main dish, 8-12 per person (1 – ½ pounds). However, these wings are soooo good, you might want to double that. Last time I made wings, we made 3 ½ pounds for the 3 of us, and it wasn’t even close to enough. I think Anthony ate like 15 wings that night.
